How to tell if a TT is a true S-Line?
I have been looking around for a while to find the right TT, and think I have finally found the one. Its a 2001 TT Quattro S-Line. It seems priced right at just under $10k and has 95k miles. Its nimbus grey with the brown leather interior and black convertible. Great looking car!!!
So I will be taking it to an Audi Dealer to have the look it over since, if I buy it, it will be from an LLC car dealer. So I want to have the pros look it over.
Having said that...here is my question. The ad says its an S-Line. It does have the brown leather seats with baseball stitching and the same brown leather detail throughout the car BUT it only has 17" 5 spoke rims and the biggest eyebrow raiser is the fact that the S-line badges are on the front and rear bumper as well as both rear quarters in front of the tires but they are larger decals, not the small oval chrome looking badge I have seem before. The dealer said the decal says S-Line and quattro Nuremberg.
Is this really an S-Line or an upgraded model that someone threw some decals on?
Thanks!

I've been out of the scene for a long time now, but Im not SURE thats an S Line car.
Pretty sure the S Line didn't offer teh baseball interior, think nimbus w/ baseball was just one of the roadster packages. S Line would have had 18" rims. Believe it would have sat almost an inch lower than a standard TT as well.
Still sounds like a nice car, nimbus gray, and aviator gray are my 2 fav colors for TTs, but I'd try to convince the dealer to come down a bit because it's not an S Line.

S-line was not available for 2001. Previous owner or current owner put those badges on it. baseball leather was a roadster only option. 17inch 5 spokes (fat5s) were optional on the 225.
It should only have two badges on the rear (TT and quattro) and one on the front grill (quattro). No badges or decals any where else on the exterior of the car.
cheers

The s-line is just a styling package for the TT, A3, and even some A4's. It gives a S model interior with a A model motor/suspension. The only cars that I thought came with a real s-line badge were 3.2's, deff not a 01.
I agree with both posts above me. The baseball stitching was special to the roadsters. And I don't want to say it was a limited edition 1 of 500 type of thing, but you don't see many on the road today either. And S line wasn't offered for the TT in this model year.
I appreciate the info! I went to the dealer and checked out the car and I love it! I also got them to come down 1k and cover all the extra fees. I think they worked with me alot because they mentioned convertibles being hard to sell in the winter AND they realized it wasn't really and S-Line.
So as soon as the bank gets their act together I will be heading back to the dealer to pick the car up. Once I get it in my driveway, I am sure I will be posting on here frequently.
Thanks again!
Kyle
