I'm beside myself. Just had all kinds of work done to her. I'm getting a check engine light now that is telling me I need a new CAT. Could this be the reason for the bad fuel economy? What kind of mileage do you get?

Default No. I'm not a speed demon.

I just had a new timing belt; tensioner; water pump; reconditioned head and new gasket; A bunch of new sensors; Radiator flush. I use 91 octane....

I get 25 mixed mpg on 93 octane with the chipped 225. Your mpg does suck, so I sympathize. Perhaps fuel filter, but also, I would do a throttle body alignment (use the search feature here if you are unsure, basically, turn the key to on and wait a few minutes). I would think that if you havent done one since your work, you could be running less than ideal A:F and seeing lower mpg.

Thanks for the advise. I turned the key and heard a 'whirrrrr, thunk, whirrrr, thunk' about 4 or 5 times and then it stopped. Hopefully that does it.

If you are using reconditioned heads, you might want to check the compression to make sure the valve job was done right. How does the power feel? sluggish or peppy?
