Default Intercooler: Custom or pre-fab?

I've upgrade my turbo, so I want to upgrade the intercooler. I am debating buying the Forge or APR, but I have also considered buying a universal kit from eBay and doing it myself. I thought I'd see what others are doing or have done. I'd like to do it once.

This is for a 2002 Audi TT 180Q.

Treadstone intercoolers are less than half the price of both of those. between a treadstone and a set of pipes from Nate (cincytt) you can build your own for right around $500. Apr is a waste of money. So is the Forge.

Or if you want to save a few more bucks you can do what i did. Bought an eBay piping kit and found a precision intercooler. Spent around $375. I wouldn't really trust eBay cores....that's just my opinion.
