Junk science?
225tt, I have 'dremeled' maaaany things... Some unsuccessfully, some successfully.
Did you experience any issues dremeling the Phenolic? I've never personally worked with it, so I'm asking before-hand. I'd definitely need to see a perfect fit in order to be satisfied.
BTW, to be on the totally safe side of safe, I'd always use non-fibrous rags or cloths (something totally clean) to plug any holes you expose in the motor while you're working on it... Just a suggestion!

No I didnt really have any problems with it, I just worked slowly as you know when you dremmel if you rush it, it turns out looking like crap. Its wasnt too hard, but yea dont use a wool sweater to plug up the holes and then when your done a good air compressor blow can help you out.
phenolic smells like *** when you heat it up. Its not too good to breath the dust either.
Another interesting related fact: Phenolic resins are usually made from a reaction of phenol, and formaldehyde.
Hmm, maybe that's why its not good to breath the dust and it smells like ***...
