I had assumed that part of a chip's function was to raise the boost level to the low 20's already, without a controller. It sounds like you are saying the MBC just smoothes or refines the adjustment, instead of actually making the adjustment.

Just to make it clear, you guys aren't just adding a MBC and turning it up, because that would bring on the limp mode that occurs just slightly over 14psi, correct?

hmmmm i cant seem to get past 18psi... what do you think im doing wrong?
double check the valve. The pressure should go into the brasstip and the wastegate goes to the colored (silver or blue) tip. Then make sure the bleed is atleast 2 full turns open and the ball and spring (brass fitting) its tight enough so the ball doesnt make noise. Turn them both another full turn and then keep turning one or the other up until you get your desired boost. Do more bleed than b&s

with a chip, the ecu can adjust for the increase in boost. Everyone is making adjustments to their chips in this thread. As for the boost controller, it changes how the boost comes on and how long it holds. Its far better than a n75

I see. So does a chipped car come into boost more aggressively, or rougher, than a stock car? I've always liked the sudden hit of boost; I only feel it when driving aggressively and anything other than that would feel like a small supercharger and thus be a somewhatuneventful driving experience to me.

spiking 11psi is one thing, spiking 20psi at just over 2k is another. The power is more on and off than it was before. The mbc helps smooth out the boost onset and makes driving the car far more enjoyable.

Yeah, what he said [8D]

If you don't have a chip... get one! Best overall mod you can do besides the Boost controller
BTW, on my 01 TT225 it didn't hit limp until about 28psi

28psi? Man, didnt think the block would hold a ko4 at that much boost. Guess the efficiency drop off help a little.

it will work, but if run by itself it may be a little jumpy. Inline with a ball and spring is best

That was on my old 01 TT 225. I got confused with the Boost Machine and reversed the settings and once I spiked around 27-28 it went straight into limp mode. I couldn't believe this was happening to me since I had the boost turned way down. or was that way up
