Modschack Intake noise / moan *help*
There is a noise (might be some sort of harmonic) when air flows under light boost (i.e. going up a steady hill with the car in cruise control). The sound would be best described as a moan, but it has pitch to it, like a harmonic tone. Sounds like a dying dog's last cry.Any thoughts on what this could be?
I bought the car from a vwvortex.com forum member who installed the kit himself. He did use a tube to suck in air from the front clip. He said the noise started when installed the kit.
It is really annoying!
Please advise...Josh

quite pleasant and not annoying. I never have heard it described as a moan before either. However, if you don't like the noise you will have to go with a closed intake system or go back to the stock airbox. It keeps the noise down to a bare minimum.
I emailed him (Steve) and he said it sounds like the stock diverter valve is going bad. Said it hill honk like a goose when it gets real bad. Luckily I have a Forge DV that the seller gave me with a car. I hope that's all it is. Now I have to find a good shop in southeastern PA to put it in.
