Default is my tranny going out?

Happy hollidays to all, today dec 24th, i woke up this morning to get my wife dome breakfest, started up my car, and i noticed whn i shifted to 2nd it was pretty hard, 1st third and 4th were fine, as soon as i pulled of from the diner place, my car would not go any faster then 5-10 mp hr, lucly i live realy close to home from there, i was having trouble changing the gears, some grinding, my car is a audi tt 2000 fwd, 1.8, with 66k miles on it? as soon as i parked the car it smelled like clutch i would think thats what it was, any one know if i need to possibly ad haldex clutch oil, or is my transmission just shot? even reverse is bad, i have to rev up really high to move the car, many thanks in advance. and happy hollidays.

You need a new clutch if the car rev's, but doesen't move.

well usually the 2nd gear grinding can result from the notorious 2nd gear synchro. but yes, sounds like you need a new clutch.

Probably multiple things busted in your clutch...like probly busted throw out bearing aside from just pressure plate/flywheel.

The 02 is a pretty tough tranny gear wise, despite the stupid 2nd gear synchro.

there is going to be a change in the pedal feel after putting in a new Clutch. You should try to not rip on the car and do a break-in. Im not sure how but i think it would be the best. If you want a firmer pedal, take it back to the shop and ask for more clutch fluid. Adding more should increase the heaviness you are looking for.

After my new clutch the pedal was extemely light but over the next half a million miles its firmed up back to normal.
