need help fast....plz
Okay so another issue...
Yesterday I finally got the car on the road after two weeks. Yesterday I (by recomendation from a friend) put in a bottle of valvoline complete fuel system cleaner. It ran fine and I went for a long ride with no issues. Later in the evening I headed to a city 45 min away and as soon as I got there i went to stop and the car randomly died. I tried to start it and everything seemed to fire properly but wouldn't start. I called my friend and he got ahold of a mechanic to come take a look. After I said that I put that stuff in they said to try adding some 93 to dillute the cleaner. We did that and the car had sat for an hour or so and cooled down. The first time I tried to start it it started with no issues. I drove it around for about 10-15 min and noticed a wierd kick in the engine and when I went to downshift it dropped to 3 grand and died again. Again after about an hour it started and drove for the same period and died. I let it set for a couple hours and then decided to try to get it home which again was a 45 min drive. I decided to take the interstate home. I kept it a above 4 grand the whole way home and it made it to the off ramp and died as I was coming down it. I again let it set and after another hour it started. I drove it ten minutes and had to downshift and it died again. The next time it finally started I finally noticed the check engine light was on. I managed to get it home and now it sits....
Any suggestions?

Could be a few things:
The cleaner could have kicked up some stuff that may be clogging your fuel filter.
Could be time to change your spark plugs (could be misfires).
Their are certainly those who are wiser than I that probably have a better idea, but that might be a place to start?

I just got off the phone with a few different shops and they say to try the filter but that it sounds like the cam position sensor. Looked it up...100 bucks
Ideas on this?

I just got off the phone with audi again and we think we narrowed it down. they said that it wouldn't be a timing belt issue because it wouldn't run right at all. It would make some sort of knocking.
So they said it had to be a sensor. They said that it could be the engine speed sensor which would cause the check engine light. The shut off at 3000 rpms would sound right and by racing the engine and maintaining it above that would keep it running. Then it occured to me that that was the clip that my buddy broke when he helped me do the clutch. He said he got it fixed but I'm thinking not. Over time it has probably come lose and is causing issues. I'm going to check this just after work and then take it to auto zone for a quick scan of the engine codes.

I keep thinking about how it happens. when the car is cold it starts fine...only after it warms up does it have issues. I know there is talk about the timing belt but that would be a constant issue. And then when it dies its not over heating but it just wont turn over...after about an hour it starts and runs fine until again it warms up and dies when i stop.
