Need Help Toubleshooting No Low Beams
For a 2000 1.8t:
High Beams Work
Floods Work
Low Beams (HID) Do Not Illuminate
I just replaced the cluster under warranty. During the replacement, the old cluster was diagnosed with an internal short.
With the old cluster, if the headlight switch was in in the on position, the cluster did not recognize it -no green lights on indicator, no alert tone when the keys were removed.
On a couple of occasions, I left the low beams "on" (by which I mean I left the headlight switch on but there were no headlights), and it drained the battery.
The new cluster acts as if the low beams are working - green light on dash, alert tone sounds if key is removed and the headlight switch is on.
The new cluster passed a diagnostic test during the replacement process.
Are these symptoms indicative of a bad bulb, balast or something else?
Should the cluster or ecu be detecting a problem?
