Just bought a 2003 audi tt 1.8t quattro, everything is great on the car except for two things

1. my fuel guage is deffinitly off. It read 3/4 a tank today but it took $35 to fill it up?????whats up with that????

2. The power steering makes a little sound when im turning right at high speed (40mph or above). But not when im going straigh or turning left. Also since its all wheel drive i know it will be hard to turn at very slow speeds, but mine seems excessivly hard??? I checked the fluid level and it is good!

can anyone give me a hint as to what is causing these problems? Or how to fix them?

 

1) Run a couple of tanks with Techron added. The problem you describe can often be due to sulphur compound deposits on the fuel sensor. Short of that it may be a problem with your cluster or replace the tank sensor.

2) Might be bad strut bearings or the power steering pump. Take it into a reputable aligmnet shop and have them diagnose for you. Find someone who has a Hunter 4 wheel alignment system, they should have the tools and the know how to determine what the problem is.

 

1. The fuel sender in tank is the problem most often from what I found. Mine went bad.
Doesn't hurt to try cheaper or more convenient fixes first .
2. What type of sound. I had a similar situation on mine. Is it a pop or knock sound?

Any warranty left?

 

how much is a new fuel sensor? and how hard to replace? im a half decent mechanic, but i dont know **** about these cars yet so bare with me.

also its not a knock or anything like that. Its just a slight moan when i bare to the right. Also i noticed today that when turning slow its hard to turn, but if i rev up the motor it makes it 10 times easier?
