Default Newbie question beware

I just joined this site because I am looking to get an Audi TT. I am kind of confused on what the different variations of this car are. I know that I want a six speed and a quattro and that I cannot afford the brand new ones. I have been looking online for a few. I guess what I really need to know is what kinds there are and what hp they have? Because I have seen people call different ones 180 or 225. Please help me out sorry to be such a noob on this.

Read the FAQ at the top of this TT section, it has all you need and then some.
By the way you described a 2001-2005 225 Quattro TT... coupe or roadster seems to be your final decision.

Might I add silver is the faster color!

Don't let these Silver drivers patonize you into getting one! We all know black on black is sexier.

if you want a six speed, the 225 is your only option. All the 180's come with 5sp

I am in the same boat as the original poster. I'm just starting to look in to the TT and am starting to get a feel for things. I will probably start autocrossing and/or track racing it in a few years. Here are my questions...

1. Do all performance parts fit either the 180 or 225? I've seen listings that specify 180. I thought the big difference was compression and turbo, not actual engine construction.

2. Major differences between '01 and '02?

3. Major things to look out for in buying used?

Thanks

1. Do all performance parts fit either the 180 or 225? Some, depends on the part

2. Major differences between '01 and '02? nothing for either 180 or 225

3. Major things to look out for in buying used? TB and neglect
