Do all tts 2000 to 2006 make noise at cold start sqeaking whistling sounds like belts then goes away after a few minutes ? How too stop that? I'm sure they didn't do that off the lot when they where new. I love this forum by the way I'm a newbe

 

thats your Secondary Air Injection pump. during cold starts it pumps extra air into your engine to warm up your catalyst faster. its part of your emissions.

when you start your car get down and look between the radiator and oil pan youll see a compressor like motor. thats your SAI and yes it should be making that embarressing loud sound. no idea if it made that sound when they were new, i know b6 1.8t a4s dont make a great sound either and there fairly new.

if you live in a place where emissions arent a big deal you can delete the system though -

It could be the secondary air pump. You should check for vacuum leaks at the hoses. This is a common problem during cold start.
