Default Not the same old chip question...

Hi everyone, I searched through the past posts, but all I could find were about a thousand posts asking "which chip is best" or "how many HP will I gain" So here is my question: Does anybody know if a GIAC chip can be soldered directly onto the ECU board, without the encryption/decription socket? Has anybody done this? Thank you for any advice anyone can give!

i'am pretty sure it wont work since they make the chip with the encryption/decription socket. i dont think the chip will see this and therfore wont work properly

When I was thinking of getting mine done I was told that is was a new program that was downloaded into the original ECU itself, via a laptop comp. So therefore to answer your question no its not soldered.
