So this might be a stupid question but is the oil pan drain plug not reuseable?

The bentley manual says "Oil drain plug is equipped with a permenant seal. As a result, drain plug must always be replaced."

Thanks.

No, there is a replacement seal with the oil filter.

Bentley is very specific and mentions in a couple of places to always replace the plug due to the permanent seal. I just buy several at a time, and always change mine. They aren't expensive, and it's not worth chancing a leak.

I reuse mine all the time. I did however switch to a cheap magnetic plug from autozone ($5 M14)which was good since it cought my oil squirter after my engine build which help save the engine from more damage. And its the washer you are suppose to replace when you change the oil, they can be bought for cheap from the dealer or ecstuning

Your free to do whatever you want. It does seem excessive to replace it each time. You'll most likely get away with it, but there's always the chance of failure from a very inexpensive part. The issue is the Audi plugs come with a "permanant seal" as opposed to a replaceable washer.
