Default oil pick up tube?

Ok I think I got the low oil pressure light on my car a little while ago and was wondering if I can check the oil pick up tube without taking the pan off.
I have the bentley book at home but Im at work right now. This is why I figure to ask here.
I read the thread in the a4 section on oil sludge and I just want to save myself the trouble of seafoaming the car by cleaning the tubes filter on its own.
Thanks

You have to remove the pan, sorry. Seafoaming would help, but if you have a sludge problem, its more than likely to late. If your car has been using syn oil, you shouldnt have anything to worry about. You may just have low oil, not pressure

I do think Im getting ahead of myself in what the problem was.
I had the oil signal light come on while I was driving.
Yellow signal is low oil
Red signal is low pressure
Right?
I just had the head redone my mechanic took the pan off so I figure it would have been obvious if there was sludge in it.
He said that the valve coverwas petty clean.

i dont have a manual so i dont know the colors or what the lights look like. If the pan was off, he would of noticed build up on the tube or in the pan

Correct, red is pressure and yellow is level. How much sealant is on the pan? Remember whatever is sticking out on the out side is probably on the inside. Maybe some silicone got in the pickup and plugged it or maybe the mechanic just didnt know what to look for.

Alot of sealant is necessary to clog the pickup but ive seen it before. Only way to figure out wheter you have abad sensor is to get a mechanical pressure gauge on it or swap the sensor and see if the light comes back on.

I was thinking about getting the temp sensor replaced just in case. If the problem comes back I figure Ill seafoam the car.
