Oil pressure low!...not
well this thread is somewhat pointless but i was so relived i thought i would share it with you all in case someone ever has the same thing happen...I was driving the other day and all of the sudden while idling at a light ...my low oil pressure light came on....my mind immediately screamed SLUDGE! awesome!....but then i started thinking no way... i change my oil every ~2000 miles (swear haha...im paranoid and have alot of free time) and never shut it down hot... but despite i was still convinced that my oil pump/ pick up tube etc was all sludged up and i was possiby looking at a new bottom end $$$. So i bit the bullet and took it to the dealer....they called me the next day and....it was the instrument cluster shorting out! I was still somewhat skeptical of this diagnosis but after them replacing the cluster....for free (thank you extended warranty)...i got it back and sure enough no light. I feel so lucky to have dodged the oh so common 1.8T oil issues. So if you see that light....dont lose all hope haha
Cool! lucky you!
Actually, from what I've read and heard from an audi mechanic, the Longitudinal 1.8T's are the engines that are notorious for sludge problems. The mechanic said he's only seen one transverse 1.8T with sludge, and that was because the owner pulled it into the dealer for the first service at 30.000 miles with the break-in oil in it. Ever since that i'm not really worried about sludging anymore.
