2002 225 with giac and borla exhaust. 160K miles
I got this code a couple weeks back and the car actually ran fine I just noticed that my gas mileage dropped horribly. From about 32 to 25. I started with cleaning the MAF and unhooking the battery and it cleared it for about 200 miles then came back. I then checked my check valves and to my surprise they all look decent. I then went through all of the hoses I could easily get to by removing the engine covers and none of them seem to have any issues. I decided since I have never replaced the MAF that I should do it any way. I just put it in this morning and it fired right up. I didn't unhook the battery because I wanted to make sure it would go out on its own. I started driving and it seemed fine until I got after it a little. The car suddenly lost all power but stayed running. I couldn't accelerate at all. The traction control light came on as well. Pulled over shut the car off checked all the connections and restarted then it seemed to be fine. I tested the boost in an abandoned parking lot and it seemed to work. Boost was at about 22 and the vac when idle was about 15. When driving if I push the clutch in the vac has always dropped to about 20 but has done that since I got the car. I then decided to try to put miles on it and after about 20 minutes it went into limp mode and I wasn't even beating on it. Now its stuck in limp mode and I feel like Im driving a tractor trailer truck.
Any Ideas?

As a quick update. I took out the new MAF and compared it to the old one and right off the bat noticed that the wiring inside was no where near the same. I called on the new one and found that they had an issue with that part saying it was compatible but it actually isn't on the website. They are refunding my money. I then decided that I would take the old one and spray the crap out of it "no pun intended" with MAF cleaner again in hopes that I missed something when I cleaned it the first time. I put in back and and it seems to be working like a charm. i just hope the cel doesn't come back on. I did a 60 mile trip incorporating stop and go traffic back roads and interstate and managed to get supposedly 34 mpg on average. Lets hope it stays like that.
