Plastic grate above head unit?

Plastic grate above head unit?

Anyone know what the purpose of this little grate is? It came out when I pulled my head-unit today.

believe thats the access cover to get to the heated seats/esp/hazard buttons.

Assume its only there to keep wires, etc, from possibly sitting right on top of the HU.
