Do they not make automatic in AWD? Every auto that I have come across so far has been FWD...

I have both. Both cars are fun. It depends on what your wants and needs are. TTs are rare and cool and chick magnets (you'd be surprised how many women tell me they love my car while they're strapping junior in his car seat). The A4 is comfortable, can be made fast, can carry more people, are more common, and has a superior quattro design. Also, a B5 A4 weighs less than a TT! Go figure. And is MUCH easier to work on the engine. Turbo swaps are simple.

I really like the looks of the B5 A4 and sometimes miss mine. But with the kids grown and not needing to haul people around, I wouldn't trade my TT. It's just too cool.

Ok so im sure all of you knew this was coming... ITs probably the noobiest question ever, what one is faster? A4 1.8t or TT 225? Im sorry to ask i jsut have to know!

Jared
The A4 can be made to be just as fast in straight line acceleration. The B5 weighs about 30 lbs less--not a big deal, but surprising. Adding a K04-15 to an A4 and other tweaks, and you have the same performance as the stock 225 or better. I had a 2001 A4 with a K04-15, GIAC Hammer file, FMIC, water injection, 380cc injectors, 225 MAF, and a 3" downpipe and it was fairly quick. It was a 5 speed.

If you are going to mod your car, I suggest going with a manual transmission. Automatics don't seem to take performance improvements as well.

Like everyone said... tt is not pratical. They always break and require $$$ maintance. A set of stock lug nuts is what... $160? Glove box fix... $800 (alough I dont think the a4 is better). This combined with the fact that you cant even fit a full to the top paper grocery bag standing up in the trunk. It even says in the manual ONLY people 4'10" can ride in the back seat (or you'll hit you head on the glass).

The answer is SIMPLE: Do you haul more then one person around at a time, EVER? Do you buy large items? Can you work on cars?

^ yeah, but the A4 has sludge problems. Whats your point? Both have there +'s and -'s.

Honestly, i was in the same boat but i always wanted an A4. Totally would of bought one if i didnt drive a TT first. The TT is by far the most comfortable car i have driven (to me) and since i dont really drive more than me and one other person 99% of the time, its fine with me. Also you can fit more than you think in the hatch with the seats down. My dad didnt believe me until i showed him by sticking a decent sized set of dest drawers in there on day.

i cant agree with you on any of that brother, other than the fact that you cant fit someone in the backseat (and i see it as a benefit because i dont have to use my car to haul my friends around anymore! haha).

i go grocery shopping with my girl in the TT all the time and we always fit a full cart worth of bags inside anytime. and thats with just leaning the seatbacks forward a little. most of the bags fit upright and i put the case of water and the flatter stuff towards the back. no big deal.

as far as the TT always breaking down goes, maybe YOURS does but mine is completely solid and 100% reliable. i have never had my TT so much as stall out, even once. i would drive my TT to alaska and back with confidence.

true when you browse these forums you are gonna see a whole lot of posts about stuff that is broken, but thats what car forums are for- so we can all talk about the little probs and know in advance what may happen. also, i think if you browse ANY car forums for ANY brand, you will see thats what the majority of posts are about.

i think if you look at the big picture, for the most part i would say 99.5% of audi TTs on the road today are solid and trustworthy. we always tend to bitch about the little problems but rarely do we talk about how awesome, stylish, solid, and GREAT the TT truly is.

yes some parts are expensive- 800 dollar glovebox, 900 dollar headlight, etc. etc. but if you think about it what premium luxury brand ISNT expensive to get parts for? hell ive been driving old BMWs for most of my adult life and stuff like that is just a given. thats the price you pay when you drive an expensive car out-of-warranty. you just have to man up and swallow some expensive repairs once in a while. but think about it for a sec- if you are driving a car that has CHEAP replacement parts, chances are you are driving a CHEAP car and those CHEAP parts you replace are made cheaply, and will break a lot faster and need to be replaced again.

i go through these conversations at work all day long when people tell me 10,000 dollars is a lot of money for a stereo. true, it is, but that 10,000 dollar stereo is hand-built in europe using the finest parts known to mankind. and it will still be around happily cranking out music 20-30-even 40 years from now. i would rather save up and buy something of quality once, take care of it, and have it forever, than to keep continuing this mindless cycle that we americans have of getting something cheap, fast, and quick, and throwing it away and replacing it when it breaks down after a year.

whoops maybe that turned into a rant, but hey its just my two cents =)

Paper bags hit the security shelf/mesh in the back with the seats up, no mater where you place them. You can fold the seat down, but the materal in the trunk scraches and dents easily, if anything heavy or sharp is put in it.

I love my tt, but want to make people aware of the problems/issues with them. I see people keeping their tt for one year and selling it all of the time. It would be nice to avoid that kind of thing.
