I sold a B5 manual (1999) A4 V6 for my current 2002 TT. I put 160k miles on the A4 and it was great. Room for 4 when you needed it, but not 5. Very reliable in my experience. Drove through snow like a pro and made everyone else seem like they were standing still. The quattro systems are different in the TT vs. the A4. Read about the TT system in the FAQ (Haldex).

For my purposes though, I wanted a newer car that was more affordable, w/ low miles and more sporty (lower center of gravity, etc.) and something for the occasional track day.

You should be able to get a good, low mileage 225 quattro for less than 20k.

With either car you choose, my 2 cents would be to buy with a car with low miles. That is key. Also, get a PPI (Pre-Purchase Inspection) from your trusted mechanic or an unbiased party. If it's a good PPI, it'll be worth the $100-150 you'll spend.

BTW, any chance (if you need the passenger room) you could go with an S4? The Biturbo (B5) is nice...the newer V8 is heavy.

Good luck!
