Ok, the break down. Girlfriend wants a TT for a daily driver. Deffinatly want AWD, manual, and we like the coupes mainly because of thier solid feel and trunk space.

Found one local, a 2001 silver coupe. 125,000miles on it. The owner says its a 225hp one, but it only has 1 tail pipe. The VIN (TRUWX28N311030130) says its a 6speed, but the shifter **** was labled a 5speed. (I never drove it, girlfriend did.) Now those two items, (the 5speed and the single exhaust) lead me to believe it is only a 18xhp model, not the 225hp. Whats strange is the VIN says its a 6speed, so maybe wrong shifter **** on it?? Who knows for sure. Maybe vin breakdown is wrong. Was the 225hp only available with a 6speed and dual exhaust?

The car is in pretty good shape for the milage. Will need tires soon, and sounds like a wheel bearing is starting to get noisey too. Mechanical issues don't concern me as I am a technician.

What does concern me is the 180hp vrs 225hp. Is there any benifits to the 180hp vrs the 225hp? Im sure the 180hp could easily be modified to make 225hp with maybe just a compressor upgrade, exhaust and tuning.

The guy is asking $7200 but I know he will move on that price. Based on that it needs tires, and likely a wheel bearing I am thinking of offering him $5500. It has also had damage to the rear bumper. Owner claims just damage to the bumper cover, but before I ever give him any $$ I will put it on a hoist and inspect it.

Was a pretty solid riding car, I was impressed. Didn't seem overly quick, but I tune domestic cars for work, so I am used to 600rwhp mustangs and corvettes, so my perceptionis a lil flawed. The girlfriend loved driving it, and thats important, and I will deffinatly not let it remain stock! LOL

Thanks for any help/input/advice.

Casey

S or X in the 5digit of VIN is for 180. that's a 180, not a 225. T in 5th digit is a 225.

Edit: FWIW, there are no digits in a Audi TT vin that address the transmission (auto, 5spd, 6pd, DSG). The 5th digit, for engine type, is the closest you get.

cheers

I have the same car 180hp/5 speed Quattro. Great car!! This model would likely make your GF a good car.
That VIN brings up a silver car that was sold at salvage auction a while back???
If it was just cosmetic probably be OK but there are lots of good cars out there without a checkered past for reasonable amounts.
Might make yuou a deal on mine

It was at an auction. It does have a salvage title. I found the auction site that had it listed, and from that found out how much the guy paid for it. (Major bargining chip). Here is the link

http://avtoizusa.narod.ru/2001-AUDI-...311030130.html

As you can see, the damage was not large, mostley the rear bumper cover, and some damage to the deck lid. The lid was pulled and filled. The repair looks decent, but again knowing all of this gives me a lot of bargining power. I have established an offering price, if he doesn't want to take it ill walk.

You have spiked my interest though. Deffinatly willing to pay a bit more for a car that does not have a checkered past. You seriously considering selling yours?
