Default Radio Swapping?

So I have tried doing some searching on this topic and I am wondering if the newer CD player single din (Concert II) radios can be swapped out with the 00-01 cassette radios (Concert). I noticed that the Concert lists "Mode display in instrument cluster " and didn't notice this on the the Concert II. Will it work? http://www.ibiblio.org/tkan/audi/radios/radios.html This is the link to the info I did find.

I don't really want to upgrade to aftermarket since it is a roadster and an aftermarket radio is more likely to be stolen than factory... Besides I'm almost always leaving it topless! The other thing is, with it being Bose, I believe everything needs to be replaced (speakers, sub, amp) for it to be compatible...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

as far as an aftermarket radio being stolen that depends on where your at i guess lol... but you dont have to swap out any components everything would work as normal. i've been using a an aftermarket radio for over a year in mine all i did was get harness adapter at a local audio store. it cost me 20 dollars. and in reference to your original question i have no idea. sorry

I think they are plug and play swappable but I'm not 100% (like 80%-90% tops)
