I used a large screwdriver and inserted it next to the tab. then pushed enough to bend it slightly and tried the rooftop.....I only had to do this once...apparently, over time, the tab must move slightly...just enough to no longer function.......so no need to over do.....and with a large screwdriver, you will get the torque necessary to to the job! push towards the outside....to the driver's side.

Default Simpler fix

I applied a small piece of a picture hanger double-stick foam to the switch tab and it worked.

Default MK1 Soft Top Stowed Micro Switch

The switch in the windshield header works fine. No issue when the top is closed and latched. I get the blinking idiot light when the top is open and stowed.
Update: There is a micro switch on the drivers side in the soft top hinge mechanism behind the driver that indicates when the top is open. I suspect that the switch might be faulty.
I can see the switch, but actually getting access to remove and replace it is a different story. Does anyone know where I might find some documentation about access/replacement of the switch?
