so I've got an 02 tt 180 coupe. I want to put a rack on it so I can take two snowboards with up the hill this winter. Maybe be able to carry two bikes durring the summer. I like the look of the OEM rack. Anyone using racks? Advice?

 

Good luck finding one. They stopped making them a long time ago (2003 I think), because they were unsafe or something like that.

 

I see theres an oem rack on ebay at $210

 

Just letting everyone know, I have a friend who owns a welding shop who just happens to have a TT for his daily driver now. Anyway, he as been talking about making a sweet looking aluminum rack/fairing that flows with the lines of the car....oh and uses the stock anchor holes. Have some ideas on paper so when the first one rolls off his table I will snap some pictures. Basically, if they are as good as the idea/pictures, im pretty sure there will be a nice little sale going on here!

I just spoke with my friend with the welding shop.......he is ordering up some aluminum this week and then fabbing up something. So, if anyone is interested post up. I also talked with him about pricing and it will be WAY within reason.......but will have exact numbers when he gets the first one done and all the labor, etc put into it.
