Default Shift **** removal

I've got a leather shift boot on the way, but I haven't tried to figure out the shift **** yet. How do you remove it?

I found it on Ebay. The company is called "gaiter". They are based out of the UK. I've done some research, and they do a lot of high end shift boots(Porsche etc.). And for $26 including shipping, you can't beat it.

Still haven't installed it, but since the stock one is starting to rip I think I just might have to.
