Default Sideview mirror vibration

I just bought a 2000 tt and am very happy.
One thing I have noticed is the drivers side view mirror shakes slightly while driving, not the housing but the glass itself. I thought it was normal at first because the audi I had before (87 4000S) had the same, and many other, problems. But the passenger side mirror doesn't move at all.
Has anyone experienced this, or know a solution?

I had it happen after inept bodyshop workers laid hands on my car. The mirror shook in the housing, and the housing was loose on its little 'stalk' that attaches it to the door. Unfortunately I totalled the car before I got a good chance to look at it or have it fixed. The mirror has to snap into place somehow, but its one of those things where I'd probably want to deal with a little shake rather than break my mirror right out of the housing pulling on it wrong. If my bently CD was up and running, I'd check it for a possible installation procedure, maybe someone else here can grab that for you.

I don't have this rattling problem you guys speak of... BUT I do know that the side view mirrors are very stiff.
It takes a little bit of force to move them however, they DO fold in.

Sure, how else are you gonna wax the inboard edge of the housing w/o covering the window with wax?
