I was talking to a mechanic who I know, and he said that Bilstiens are crap. I've always had good experiences with them. Anyone around here running them besides me?

 

I've only heard positive things about them.

No personal experience.

A thought though:
Big name companies don't need to keep up with R&D if people buy them anyway.
They could be behind the pack if they have been slacking.
Especially with newer companies trying to prove themselves in the import market.

 

I had the PSS9 coilovers on my BMW before I sold it. Never had a single problem, loved them.

 

i think you will find many happy bilstien people and only a complaint here and there. I think there was a person or two on vortex that wernt happy with the pss(9)'s. Dont remember the reasoning, but you cant please everyone.

 

all i deal with are bilstein and i fought like hell to get a account with them even though i could have gotten a FK, vmaxx, or kw account easier and cheaper. also bilstiens are the least profitable. usually i find the bilstein haters to be people who bought something else. right now i have a mk3 vr6 in the shop with bilsteinsthat i have been driving and i cant tell you enough how much i love them there is no better ride for such a aggresive coilover. also i have a guy that comes by every once in a while to recycle my used metal, everytime he asks "any of that fk today?". i am not kidding.

 

I was at a shop chatting it up with some buddys and i watched as one of them took off some, in good shape mind you, bilstein shocks for some "on special" shocks and i just laughed along with my buddy as he tossed them into the trash. Makes my head hurt sometimes

 

I HAVE PSS9 ON MY TT AND I LOVE THEM. I DRIVE THE CAR EVERYDAY (ROUGH ROADS) AND ON THE TRACK, THEY PERFORM VERY WELL IN BOTH SITUATIONS.

That's what I didn't get. I've had them on other Audi's, a BMW and a Miata and I loved them. They stayed crisp and firm through many miles, and they had excellent ride characteristics even as they aged.

 

++ for Bilstiens I just wish they werent so damm expensive but as the saying goes "You gota pay to play!!"
