Default started up and car was in Limp mode

my TT was driving fine I had just been running some errands stoped into my garage to detail it for a couple of hours I checked the oil and waxed it etc.. when i went to start my car ithad a hard time starting then it seemed to be in limp mode, the check engine light came on and the car wouldn't rev. The engine looked to be running roughly so I turned the car off and started it again, then it was fine spooled when I reved it etc. I just changed my plugs a month ago and the coil packs looked fine, also the only mod to the car is a forge diverter valvle. the car its self only has about 33k miles on it but it is a 2000 180q. So what kind of things could put a 1.8t into limp? I thought it was just high boost level and when coils went bad? what other things could this be?

I have driven the car for a day since and it hasn't repeated this.

advice please
thanks in advance.

if the car acted funny then corrected itself i wouldnt worry about it. More than likely its the ecu screwing up during the throttle body alignment.

so it couldn't be an intermittent problem with the coils or anything?
