Hey folks...noticed something odd with the TT ...its an 2001 225 quattro...and when I drive in the lower gears you can hear like a dog howling/whining kinda noise for a few seconds.

it goes away if i accelerate harder..but still there sounds like air leaking out of a small hole or something (like releasing air slowing out of a balloon).

any thoughts???

Why? Doesnt sound like his turbo is damaged in any way.

 

its not the turbo....its a much lower (pitch) sound....

 

That's your exhaust :P

Seriously though, it could be your diverter valve if it's a honking type noise.

 

I get the same type of noise.
but its coming from the rear.

I think it has something to do with the haldex

 

I had a nasty hum that turned out to be my haldex bearing.

 

Because that would be embarrassing, lol
