Am I correct in assuming that a howling noise coming from the engine at startup is the sai pump failing? I seem to remember readingthat's what it sounds like. It lasts for about 4 seconds and then goes away. I am also getting a cel for sai improper flow.

I want to get rid of this garbage, but the writeup on vortex is a little vague. I can't have any cel's if I get rid of it. CEL in Texas means instant fail on the inspection. Has anyone had any experience with doing this delete?

You're correct with your assumptions, but I can't help you with the delete. I'm thinking of doing it soon, but I haven't looked into it at all yet.
