Question Strut Bearings...

so i think it's time to swap out the damn strut bearings. the creaking is driving me crazy when i drive. but is OEM Audi the only manufacturer for strut bearings?

are there aftermarket polyurethane strut bearings out there?

To my knowledge the OEM strut bearings are the only ones available.
There's nothing wrong with them as far as wear and tear goes with aftermarket suspension.
I think it's just during the removal/install of the new suspension that they get damaged.

I could be wrong though... Prince is intimidating!
Please don't have him pour purple rain on my TT if I'm inncorrect! : /

^ well, my strut bearngs were really ugly when i re-did my coilovers. so i'm assuming they're creaking (metal was showing =| )

can't really tell for sure, unless i do one or the other.

hmm strut bearings or FSB's... decisions decisions.

p.s. - prince will be showering you with more than just purple rain beks... golden rain!

I had the same creaking sound and IT WAS THE sway bar bushings, bearings would probably pop or grind. just try spraying some lube in their or greasing the bushings.

^ what lube did you use?

edit: and do the sway bar bushings make a sharp loud creak when going over dips/bumps? (freeway) ?

camber kits are the alternative. A small part of my excuse to originally get my kmac camber kit. my current ground control kit actually has a needle bearing that the weight of the car rides on, and a spherical joint above that to keep the suspension from binding no matter where its riding. Hopefully get pics up tonight.

^ hmm.. only if vmaxx came with adjustable front camber/caster =(

i dont wanna go tooo far to get a camber kit for the fronts, just want to replace the bushings/bearings and/or spray some lube on it.

yeah, well, if the strut bearings are shot, greasing them isn't going to do much, and replacing is the 2 options already offered. OEM, or camber plates. Really can't think of any other options.
