Default Summer Tire Advice Needed

Have the OEM Conti tires (225/40ZR18) on and am getting the feathering and cupping that I hear is common (let me know if you think otherwise). Have 38k miles on the TT, but have swapped tires for winter, so they probably have about 22-25k miles on them. I am wondering a few things:

1. Is this a warranty issue with the tire?
2. What is a good replacement tire. These are summer tires only as we swap them with Nokian's when the flakes begin to fly. Looked on Tire Rack, but too many options.

Thanks for any help!

How often do you rotate your tires? Feathering and cupping is usually alignment related. To get the best wear from any tire they should be rotated every 5000 miles.

1. nope
2. I've had great results with Toyo T1-S, Michelin PS/2, Bridgestone RE050. Just about any top of the line performance summer tire will do the trick. I'm currently on the PS/2's. Road noise isn't too bad.

They are rotated every 5000-7500 miles from front to back (can't go side to side). Dealer stated that is was mainly due to the fact that the tires couldn't be rotated from side to side and that it had something to do with the AWD system inherent to all Quattro's...

It probably has more to do with the tires being directional.
If you wanted to rotate them from side to side, you'd have to remount the tire.

Check out the Falkin 912's, they're a decent tire. Good mix between performance and long life, and you can rotate them from side to side.

My brother has those on his Falkin 18" wheels and they do handle very well. Tread rating is like 360 which is pretty long tire life. I still like ASX's personally. Might move to the MX's (both from khumo) when i drive in warm weather all year round
