Winter tire advice needed
quick question....
i have some mint condition winter tires 225/45 R18 's that i want to install on my Audi A3. the A3 manual says that the car will take 225/40 R18's.
I am crazy to think that i can use my 'old' tires?
thx.

RE: Winter tire advice needed
As long as ALL 4 TIRES are the same size you won't really harm anytyhing, at that size, but, you should know that, with a smaller "rolling" diameter, your spedomoter will read approx 2mph slow. In other words, you'd be doing roughly 58mph when your spedo read 60. You top-end-speed would be reduced, too, but, honestly, how often do you do WOT runs?

I have the same problem, but i have a 2000 A4 1.8t Quattro. Would the 225 45 18 tires fit or would they be rubbing on something. I dont really mind about the 2 - 5mph difference.
Please let me know
thx

This won't tell you if they'll rub, or not, but, for future reference of sizing... http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
To find out if they'l rub, post your question in teh A4-section. I guarantee that, not only will you get an answer but at least one person will manage to find a way to ridicule you for asking the question. We refer to these kinds of people as @$$Hats!
