Default things keep getting worse!

The epc light came on a while ago, but would reset when the vehicle shut off. The light would only come on if the heater was on, blower on high, and the car was warming up.. I took it to the dealer, who told me the throttle position module(?) under the dash that sends the drive by wire signal was malfunctioning, and to replace it was 360+ labor... i wanted more time to research the problem and drove away without the repairs. I went to my car friday to head to class and it seemed as though i wasnt getting any fuel. Engine would crank but not fire.. with some coaxing i finally got her running, but had no throttle response, misfires out the a$$, and really rough idling ranging from 500-2700 rpms. let the car completely warm up with nothing getting better. anyone have any input on the module, or any other ideas as to what the problem might be otherwise? AND if anyone has any experience with this, would a 180 horse/jetta/gti/etc... module work on my 225? THANKSS!!

not sure if throttle position sensors are swappable between cars, if you have one, and it plugs in, might as well try it.... just not on a public road.

also, try unplugging your maf sensor (first sensor, just after the airbox) and see if the car drives any better w/o it.
