Yellow oil sensor warning light.

Thats a $15 "given". There are a few more low $$ items that should be replaced under "normal maintenence" and the temp sensor is one of them.
EDIT>>>>>>>> I thought you were referring to the temp sensor color....."yellow"...the newer ones are green.
Yoiur problem might be elsewhere per your other post. Try to be more specific if you want the right replys.

smoke coming from the turbo area.
This could be a separate issue. Possibly leaking valve cover gasket or cam plug(s)....see...?? another $15 "given".

Turns out It was a short circuited wire. main wire controlling lots of units., guy fixed it now i got oil pressure! yellow warning gone, a/c back! im back to the amazing driving experince.

and yes valve gasket needs to be replaced soon. you were right but not for awhile.

check engine light came on though later the day i got it from the shop, i know they come on for any possible reason though so not too worried

Default Another one for consideration

TT n00b here.

What do you think about this 2000 1.8T Quattro? I'm going to take a look at it tomorrow and have my checklist of things to ask/inspect thanks to this forum.

The 2003 auto is not a DSG, but a 6 speed tiptronic. I had it in my 2005 and it was great...as autos go. You can flip it into manual mode and shift with either the shifter or the buttons on the wheel. Both left and right buttons are good for up or down shifts. In sport mode, it is very responsive and the gears hold longer in the rev band. Quite a lot of fun.

However, the tiptronic is also expensive to repair....but then again, everything is expensive on the TT.

If you're comfortable with the notion that you don't own a TT, you support it, you and your TT will have a good long term relationship. If not, it will be painful.

cheers.

The 2003 I am selling has the tiptronic and it holds revs well in the S mode, I dont bother shifting it myself cos it does such a good job!

My 05 was the same. It was a hoot to drive full auto, S mode. I know it gets a lot of ribbing for being a auto, but it was such fun...even in stop n go traffic. I've no regrets.

Thanks ... I appreciate this very sobering post more than u can imagine. Making me re-think the whole matter ... probably very wisely.
