Timing Belt/Water Pump
Ok, so it looks like I'll be going to a dealer to do my timing belt, water pump, ect. My new question is whether or not i should look for any upgrades or just let Audi replace the parts that they already have. I read old posts about timing belt kits, ect. but am wondering if it's worth it?
i got a timing belt kit from ecstuning, and was very happy with the quality of the parts, and more importantly it was $270 shipped with 2 qts of g12 coolant. the dealer quoted me $550 for just t-belt, water pump, and tension dampener. that combined with $650 in labor charges convinced me to avoid them all together. if you have ever done a timing belt on anything before, i suggest doing it yourself. its not that hard, just time consuming (took me about 7 hrs by myself). you can even buy all the tools you'll need for less than half what the dealer charges for labor.
thanks for the tip about ecstuning, I'll check it out. And I know about Audi dealerships, an arm and a leg. Luckily I just found out about KWD tuning in Westwood, NJ. Read a lot of good things about them, and a lot cheaper then going to the dealership.
