tranny clunks, car shuts off, help me
i had been driving for about 10 mins, no problems ever up until i had gently accelerated up to 65 and put the cruise on then clunk! i felt it in the floorboards and in the stick, and it happened a couple more times, slightly more violently as i was coming down in speed then one more final clunk and the car shut off and i threw the hazzards on and waited for a tow, car will not start now. any suggestions?
It sounds like your hydralic slave cylinder .If you drive it radically all the time it may not be engaging or disengaging at times.don't be so hard on it. replave the slave cylinder, had that same issue on a chevy, and a hyundai. (not my cars) friends and familys.
I hope you've done your timing belt... the symptoms you are described are sounding a lot like the timing belt breaking or the tensioner failing causing the belt to slip and allowing the pistons to hit the valves. The symptom of a bad slave cylinder is the clutch pedal staying down to the floor.
thanks for the insight, however i re-read my post and failed to mention the massive amount of transmission fluid leaking between the tranny and the motor, the clutch pedal does not stick to the floor though, but i guess another question would be if the tranny is bad why does it not start at all? safe mode? and the timing belt is new as well.
typically, blowing a tranny has little to do with the clutches hydralic slave cyli'. yeah the guy above me is good with it might be stuck in gear. you can get tranny rebuilt off this guy www.zelek.com
