Tranny fluid change
I am having a tranny problem tha make it hard to shift in high RPM. I am going to take it to a shop and check up, but I decide to change the tranny fluid see if it would help. Since it is about time to do it anyway
From my research, I have to drain the oil from the bottom and pump the redline MT-90 tranny oil in.
Hmm... anything else I need to pay attention at? Where eactly is the drain plug located?(a picture will be great), Do I suppose to pump the oil from the drain plug??

You can't miss the drain plug. Once you take off the belly splash guard and look at the transmission it will be
clear as day on the sun. You take off the drain plug. (Depending on your year and model you may need a special
12 point security tool) I have an 04 TT and I had to buy this tool for 26 bucks from ECS tuning. If you have an earlier
model (pre 2003) you may be okay with a regular large Alan Socket. You will need to fill the Transmission fluid via your
Fill hole which is the same type plug as the drain plug only on the side of the transmission. Before you drain your transmission
oilmake sure you can get the fill plug out or you may be in trouble. Fill it with Redline MT-90 or Audi transmission fluid.
It willtake about 2.3Quarts. So get 3 bottles of whatever you get. I wasn't too impressed with the Redline fluid to be honest.
At the momentI am running Royal Purple Max Gear 75W90 which is a GL4 and GL5 lubricant. I am actually getting smoother
shifts with it than I was getting from Red Line. But the choice is yours.
Also make sure to drain the Bevel Box. It is part of the transmission and is located ont he Passenger side area of the transmission.
Ithas actually a Magnetic plug that will have someMetal shavings on it. Take it out and clean it offand replace the plug.
There is abouta cup or less of fluid in the bevel box but it is still dirty fluid and you might as well do it right the first time
and not overlook it. I would also recommend to change the Rear differential fluid since you are already switching fluids
It takes one Literwhich is close to one Quart.
Good luck with changing the fluid but if you have shifting problemsthe newfluid may not be a cure all.You synchros may be on the way out
and no fluid in the world will help them repair themselves.Do you have a short shifter?

that'll help you. Depending on your cars year, it'll either be a hex, with 2 possible sizes, most likely a 14mm though, or a triple square. If you're doing the tranny, might as well do the rear diff too.
Actually reading/thinking about it now, I bet the other issue I'm having with my car (bad growling when moving) is coming from my bevel box. For some reason, I made up my mind that it shared fluid with the tranny, but guess what? Thats retardedly wrong. Bet I don't have any in there, and have been driving like that for 2 months. Been thinking the noise was a bearing on the tranny output to the right front tire. Awesome. Guess I'll start looking for a new bevel box too.
Anyway, make sure BOTH your tranny and bevel box have oil.
Approx. capacities
'Initial filling' bevel box 1qt
5 speed tranny (02J) 2.1qt
6 speed tranny (02M) 2.7qt
Rear final drive 1.1qt
Large hex/triple square drain tools can be found on www.metalnerd.com or www.rapidparts.com
I gotta get the moped up here, and do a massive overhaul of my driveline this spring, all fluids, haldex filter, trans. filter, flush everything. Wow I'm glad I have the overtime now. Bummer.

Fill up gear oil for bevel box to lower edge of filler hole. Specification Parts catalog .
Screw in plug - B - .

Switch off engine and remove plug - B - .
Fill gear oil for bevel box up to bottom edge of filler hole. Specification Parts catalog .
Screw in new plug - B - .
Yep, it was late, i was tired, and always frustrated with the car. Apparently the DSG isn't like that. Still think thats my issue though. Guess I'm retarded anyway.
We have a 914 Bumblebee in the shop, my boss owns it, is restoring it ever so slowly. I need to go ahead and buy a new tranny and engine for the TT, so I'll have 2 drivelines more or less, then get him to sell me the 914 for cheap, and I'll throw the extra parts in that car, it'd be awesome, except for the part that it wouldnt' be an original bumblebee anymore, there are only 150ish known in existance.
