Default trans fluid

Just occured to me today that I might need to change my trans fluid.

I got my car with 55k on it, it now has 67k. I really doubt the trans fluid's ever been changed on it. Day after I got it the clutch went out and was replaced under warranty (cuz somebody at the dealer had dumped it) but I don't think you have to change fluid for a clutch install...but I've never done one so I wouldn't know.

It does shift kinda rough. I have to put in some effort to drive it real smooth and my buddies can't drive it smooth at all. I don't know if that's really how it's supposed to be; I don't think the 6 speed 225QC I drove was that rough...but other than that I've never driven another TT.

And also sometimes second gear makes a grinding noise when I shift into it...idk if that's my synchro or something just figured I'd throw it out there while I'm asking trans questions.

But yeah think my fluid needs a change?

It is suppose to be a lifetime fluid, but you know just like me that many people have had great success by swapping in some redline oil. There are a couple write ups in the FAQ in the mkiv section on vortex that will help you out.

Sweet. So what about that noise? Sometimes when I go into second it makes a scraping/grinding noise. The other night when a friend of mine was driving it made it every time he shifted just about...and he was freaking out saying IVE GOT THE CLUTCH TO THE FLOOR I SWEAR[&:]

Not like he doesn't know how to drive either he's driven it plenty of times.
