ive had my 01 225 tt for a month now and its been fine in NY. recently, it wont start on the first try? what can this be from? the weather is a little cooler than it has been but i doubt thats the problem? spark plugs were changed in the 50k service and the car has 72k now? thanks

 

does it click or does it turn over slowly like the battery is low?

 

it acts as if its starting and then doesnt get to the point where the engine turns on, then i try again and it starts up rite away?

 

you can go have the battery tested along with the altinator. But some people claim a new fuel filter will help also

 

i just got a new fuel filter last week? you think that can be why its acting up? it needs to settle in? thanks

 

i doenst need to settle in, it will just start working. If you already did that, i would take it to a parts store and have them test the battery and alternator. Its free and will help pinpoint the problem

 

i'd check the battery. a car of that year is definitely due for a new batt, and most likely the first owner didnt do it.
i've had that problem once in a while too, and it was determined that the car needs a new batt- its an 01 and still on the original, so im getting that replaced next week.
i would try to drive for a few days with the radio AC and as many other electrical systems off as possible, it might save a little juice and keep it running until you can replace it.

many cars don't start with the first turn of the key so whats the problem? I do know of faults with fuel systems where a pin hole on the piping would cause loss of pressure while the car was laid up and the pressure would have to build up first
