TTweakers
It's an amazing resource that was just brought to my attention.
Figured you guys would find it useful.

Some topics covered are lemmiwinks, vag-com, and basic TT troubleshooting.

Very cool. A majority of that stuff I knew about, but haven't had much luck actually getting some things to work, this explained it a bit better, shouldn't have any problems now.

Yeah, I went through the guide yesterday and was playin' with stuff. The Output Tests for Instrumentation is cool just to go through. I set the instrument panel to backlight the numbers whenever the car is on.

This guide ought to be a sticky or added to the FAQ.

Everything in there is explained very well. Definitely a site that's worthy of a bookmark!
Clipse you know the bentley manual now works with vista right?
That was my main problem with the repair manual anyway. Considering my old laptop won't work unless it's plugged in.
Jetta your cluster doesn't do that stock... weird. Must be something they changed with the newer models.

...brain fart

Stock and with headlights off, the gauge needles were lit, but not the face of the gauge. You can set the code for the face and the needles to be lit with the headlights off, or one or the other or none. No one is reallygoing to notice, but it was cool to do anyway.

hmm.. im curious why it wouldn't? also why USB is causing more failures than serial cables. even with USB 2.0, im pretty sure it won't cause much data loss. wonder if there's a vag-com fire wire cable...

I'm pretty sure the gauges and needles are lit when the headlights are off.
All I know for sure is when the headlights are on there's a little green light to let me know.

The bentley manual just wouldn't open on vista.
The instructions to make it work were to change one of the setting so it would run as administrator er sumptin like that.

For vag-com I read that thread on vortex about the one usb cable not working properly.
Other than that one type of UBS cable I Haven't heard anything else about it.

Edit: Ugh... had a brain fart!
