I was wondering how hard it is to remove the turbocharger on a Audi TT 180. Me and my pop wanted to put an aftermarket Garrett turbo on it ad we were wondering if it's possible to do it ourselves. If you guys have any guides that'd be killer too!

drain fluids
pull covers
unbolt manifold and remove
unbolt tip, dp, lines and bolt under turbo and remove all the above, reinstall new stuff.

Takes a better part of a day to remove and install the first time. Certainly hope you know what you are doing and dont just slap something on and kaboom

 

Man, pulling it apart is hard, but the hardest thing is putting everything back together. Unless one or both of you have significant experience and a shitload of time, I wouldn't do it.

 

Its just bolts and clamps

 

I would assume your dad has maybe a turbo carburated car? Theres a lot more involved to slapping on a different turbo on an efi car.

 

We both have turbocharged cars. Mine is the TT though, not his cheap "butts."

Would I honestly notice that much of a difference between the K03 and the K04 or maybe a Garret? Chipped of course
