Default Two week old axle...toasted, again

My new axle blew out on me, doing 60 in the carpool lane. TALK ABOUT SCAREY!!!! I was able to barely steer her over 3 lanes of Saturday evening traffic to the off ramp. My buddy owns a towing company so he had someone over in 20mins with a flat bed. Is this a common problem on these cars? The guy driving the truck (also works as a repo man) says his father has a TT and this has happened to him also. This axle is less than a couple weeks old, could the lowering of the car have something to do with this at all?

depends on the mods you have done like if you did an upgrade on engine power output the torque could be too high for the original shafts

i was getting allignment and balancing done on my wheels plus had to replace one vavle stem ( long angry story which will lead to a rant)

anyways... the guy there told me to listen to a metal grinding noise or even any type of high pitch metal rubbing noise coming out of the wheels at low speeds. he told me that our cars arenotorious for wheel bearing failures. sd has something to do with operating temps.
