Unknown Squeek on TT
Hey out there.
I have a 2000TT Quattro with 50K miles, just bought it last summer. There is an intermiitent low pitch squeek/rubbing sound that seems to be coming from the chassis (or maybe the Quattro mechanics?) It is not speed related, but may be road surface related I cannot figure this out, and before I take it to the Audi Dealer and sound like a fool, it would be good to hear of any possible sources. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!

i own a 2001 tt just bought this summer and recently i'm hearing the same squeek i'm sure.
sort of like a low pitched rubbbing yet on smooth surfaces is quiet. No affect in performance

I have the same problem with my 2000 TT. I've haed 3 friends (1 of them a VW/Audi fan and the 2 other who are mechanics). 2 of them thought it was the bushings. We put some lubricant (sorry if thats not the proper auto terminology) on the bushings but the problem still occurs. Last month, my 3rd friend looked at it and tested it out. When going over bumps/pot holes or even when the car was idle (he pushed up and down on the frame), my TT consistenly made that squeaky noise. He suggested it had to do with the TT's frame(?) and not necessarily the suspension itself.
Before I take it to the dealership, I wanted to find out if anyone on the forums had the same problem and how they got it fixed.
Thanks!
John

Good to know I'm not alone! I have had few suggestions back on the Audiworld website, who suggest it may be a rear swaybar/suspensionarm issue. No one has a clear response. though. Sorry I can't give you firm info, but I'm doing the same thing you are!
