Default vag codes help!

so i threw the same code again today (twice)

17536 - Fuel Trim: Bank 1 (Mult): System too Lean
P1128 - 35-00 -

this one i always get every couple days or so

theres a couple other random ones that have come up besides these but i need to know what would be causing these...

im thinking possibly a bad maf as ive been told before. As I stated in a different thread if i run a full bov i dont get the system lean code because im obviously getting rid of the air and theres extra fuel for it already. Its getting annoying to keep getting these so help plz lol...

Your maf isnt reading high enough g/s. You can try cleaning it, but you probably will have to replace it. Also dont vta the stock dv.

**other less likely causes are:

bad o2 sensor
leak in intake pre maf
leak in the exhaust before the primary o2 sensor

yea cleaned the maf quite a few times.... i have an actual bov in there so its not the bosch one ive also got a 007 and a splitter both of those throw a code but not the full bov... i have had an 02 sensor code back in the day but it never came back... would the primary one be before the cat im assuming? I do havea small exhaust leak after the cat... i changed my wxhaust from stock 180 to stock 225 i had a flange welded on and the top has a small gap on it so theres a small leak

Primary is the first o2 sensor. The exhaust leak past the o2 sensors wouldnt cause anything. Sounds more like the maf unless you have a small exhaust leak either between the turbo and manifold or the turbo and dp or the first o2 sensor is bad.

If you have a 2000 the o2 sensors are the same and you can swap them to see if it goes away (after you clear the code once). If not, i would change the maf

thnx for the fast reply

ive got an 01 so prolly the maf then... sux because this is the second one ive had to buy then in the past year ive owned it... ive cleaned it many times and that doesnt do the trick yet...

now an odd question since my maf is making the car run lean should i keep a bov on there to make the car run rich? would that even it out or cause other issues? when i vag it on bov everything shows normal and the car actually runs great lol

You can do that or just unplug the maf with whatever valve you want. Check your engine code, if you have a ATC, you are the same as a 2000 and the same still applies.
