Default Water on Floorboard

New owner of 2001 180hp TT Roadster. Found this forum and some great info, but not on this particular problem. Help will be appreciated.

I was forced to park my baby outside when Earnesto blew through Florida. A couple of days later I noticed that my driver side (only) carpet and floor mat were very wet. Not quite squishy wet but wet. Moisture extended all through the floorboard on driver side including behind the seat.

I've spent several days trying to dry it out and thought I'd succeeded. But after a 1-hr drive today I noticed that the moisture had returned or resurfaced. Car has been under cover since I first noticed the problem and today was bone dry.

There are two possibilities I can see. 1) I didn't do a good job of drying out the carpets (strictly surface efforts--no carpet removal). Or, 2) moisture is being reintroduced. I was thinking that possibly the condensation drain hole for the a/c is plugged. However at the end of today's trip I felt up under dash on driver side for any evidence of moisture and found none. I have driven the car in heavy rain when it was new to me and looked carefully for any evidence of leaking, but Earnesto had some strong winds near us and maybe horizontal rain.

Any ideas on where this moisture may be coming from and how to get it out? How hard are the carpets to remove?

Many thanks.

Larry

I don't think that the window was opened. I knew that the storm was coming and checked out the car before hunkering down.

Any ideas on drying the car out?

Are the window drain holes something that I can do anything about?

Thanks for the quick response. I'm now looking for advice on what I can do to mitigate this now and prevent future occurrences.

Are the window drain holes something that I can do anything about? keep them clear of leaves/ don't park under trees, for drying out put a hair drier in there set to warm and let it do the job
