What other cars were you thinking about when you bought the TT?
At the time I was shopping for the TT I was also looking at late model M3's and B6 S4's. The TT won out while nowhere near as fast as either of the other two cars, it had always been a favorite.
In the end I ended up with a S4 anyway. I don't regret either car. The only thing is I am debating on selling the S4 because as much as I have tried to love the Tip I want to shift that thing when I drive it. I have some money coming into play in the spring/summer of 08' and think I will unload the current S4 and replace it with a much lower mileage 04'-05' B6 S4 that is a 6-MT car.
My only fear with the stick is the horror stories I've read about guys missing shifts and wrecking their heads. You can't do that with the Tip. You just floor it and go. That said, the fact that I can't redline a shift with the Tip takes some of the danger inspired fun out of the car. It's too much like a super-agile muscle car with the auto transmission.

Anything diesel, looked at a dodge truck, and an old Jetta. Plan was to switch it for WVO or biodiesel.

Thats what rev limits are for. Plus all vw/audi's now have DBW so itwill be cut off electronically

DBC - drive by cable. It is the old system where the TB was controlled by ametal cablethat went from the gas peddel to the Tb and when you pushed down it pulls the TB open.
DBW - Drive by wire. It controls the TB electronically by taking references from the peddle and sending it to the TB on how far to open it. This is why throttle response is slower and you have to do TB alignments all the time. Also, it will cut power to the TB and close it when it sees things it doesnt like, like missing shifts or bad timing, to much boost, etc.
And yes, most chip tunes increase the rev limit
