If it was german and had 4 rings i was thinkin about it.
2003 A4- cracked windshield+needed a jump to start
2002 A6- nice but automatic
I was at a dealers only auction, i had a dealer buddy.
My TT was a chance encounter i was waitin on the A6 when it pulled up we were curious on the price. The A6 was one car behind the TT when i heard the price i couldn't resist.
We lived happilyever after.

Was going to look at a 99M-Roadster in james bond blue. Had the time set up and everything. The day before i was going to look at it the guy calls me and tells me that he sold it. Son of a B!tch!!!64k miles 99 M-roadster for $15.5k. Probably would have bought it on the spot. That's my dream car <3

Honestly... I had just been rejected financing on a brand new 04' Acura RSX-S that I was putting $15,000 down payment on... when i stumbled upon the TT. Acura screwed up bad there. Either way, rejecting me threw me into the arms of another lover; my TT.

E36 M3 - Found a few for decent prices, but they were automatic.

Lifted custom silverado - 8mpg, that says it all

Audi S4 - right price, but 140k miles and salvage title scared me off.

Jeep Wrangler - Nice, but couldn't find "the one."

Found the TT - low miles, great price, quattro to get through the twisties, and the in-dash TV/DVD finally was the icing on the cake.

The TT was my first choice. The combination of AWD, a turbocharger, and good gas mileage won me over. My other choices were an Infiniti G35, BMW Z4, and Porsche Boxster. But as much as I love my TT, I have to admit the new Infiniti G37 looks pretty sweet and the Porsche Cayman S looks even better!

-Bmw 330Ci -Great engine, rwd
-Bmw Z3 - same a above plus better handling & sportier
-Bmw E34 -Incredible value for the money, and very easy to get 600HP out of.
-Honda S2000 - just drive it. 9000 rpms, no storage space unfortunately.

-TT
-Looks better than all of the above combined.
-AWD B!TCH!
-Turbo
-solid chassis, love it
-holds a remarkable amount of luggage for a sports car.

I drove it, bought it.

Wow... all of you have very expensive taste. I would have never LOOKED for any of those cars... OR the TT. I just happened to be sitting at a dealership in the freezing cold waiting on a taxi. To keep them from kicking me out, I pretended to be interested in buying a car. to ensure they couldnt sell me one... I picked the nicest one in the lot. Then somehow they made it work. -shrugs-

ive had at least one of each european brand- mercedes, volvo, bmw, VW. and i wanted to stay euro. i wanted something small like my GTI but with more power and quality.
i almost settled on a 1.8t audi wagon before the TT, but the deal fell through. i kept looking and looking and i was about 90% there to get a BMW Z3 coupe 3.0 in black. the car was mean and awesome, and i always loved the Z3m version but couldnt find one anywhere near me.
finally i went out and test drove a TT, and it was all over for me- i had to have it! the one i test drove was black and awesome but overpriced, so i stalked autotrader.com for about 3 solid months looking for deals until i found the one i bought. a 30 minute look around and test drive and i signed the papers on the spot. no regrets whatsoever!! traded in the GTI and never looked back.....
i love my TT, and in a year or two i will take it off the road and keep it as a weekender. now the decision is what to get as a daily driver in two years? im even crazy enough to think that in two or three years a decent TT will be under 10K, and maybe i will have two at the same time- one daily driver, and one modded beast. =)

2004 R32 ...looked at 3 liked them all :-(
Chrisler Crossfire SRT-6 couldnt find one local enough (mercedes AMG SLK/C32 engine with supercharger = 350 hp goodness)
looked at 3 TTs
looked at a 350z ... these are like flies on a turd in S. FL

I ended up with a TT (not complaining lol xcept the massive debt it put me in lol)) and as fate would have it, my dad just bought a Crossfire SRT-6 not more than a month ago.
awesome!
