Default Wow! This radio really sucks....

I've had the TT for about a month now and absolutely loving it. Just had the hazard relay and power window switches replaced under factory warranty. I also told Service that my Bose premium package radio throws more static than music on FM. According to Service, the radio is fine. Yeah, OK.

In any case, I have 2 questions:

1- Anyone else's radio static-y?
2- Is there any way to shut off the automatic volume level? That thing really really sucks.

Thanks

believe you hold the FM2 and RDS buttons with the radio off, then, while depressed, turn the power on. This should put the radio into set up. By automatic volume, theres 2 things i can think of, GALA, which is the speed sensative volume, or the level the radio plays at when you start the car. Volume **** sets the level for both, higher number being more volume (obviously).

Why you're radio is static filled I don't know. The antenna is built into the rear window if its a coupe, not sure on the roadster. Might check that you don't have a bad connection or short somewhere between the glass and the radio.

what yeat is your tt, the ways to access your options differs. not to be rude, but the avl might be in the manual for the sound system if you have one, otherwise i think its holding like fm2 while turing on the radio or something equally bizzare. also, have you tinted your windows? I believe that can interfere with reception.

Unfortunately, no manual with the car, even though the car was purchased from an Audi dealer. They keep promising me that a manual is on order for me, however it's been 4 weeks and I still don't have it yet.

The radio exhibited the behavior prior to me tinting the windows. I asked Service to check the antennae connection behind the radio when they replaced the Hazard switch as I thought there might be a loose connection. It looks as if the radio was removed at one point by a hack as there a tiny scratches on the plastic of both sides of the radio.

My TT is a 2003 coupe. Any info helps at this point.

Thanks

Just get rid of the stock headunit and upgrade to something more suited to your needs. I just replaced my bose headunit and the difference in sound qualityis likenight and day. The speakers are next then possibly the amp.

Yes, he does have window tint, however that ususally only effects the AM band and not FM. Besides he had the issues prior to putting on the tint.
There probably is a short in the antenna connection somewhere.
