Here's what my snub looks like in there... that's not a crack, it's me wiping the dirt off with my finger.

I don't think purems has the same snub that I had anymore. The one i have is (was) red and had a rounded side on it. the stern mount seems to be a new design.

x2 on the clutch install though beermod, another hand would be awesome. I was thinking about going to OIT back when I wanted to go into graphic design, looks like a cool school.

alright...so I can't get a purems snub!...great

so the next question is....does anyone have a Stern snub mount?

I want to buy a new snub ASAP, but I don't want alot of vibration, and I definately don't want to worry about it cracking....

I think that APR had a bad batch, and I am just worried that I may end up with a dud

I really only want to install one snub and I don't want to worry about it...

does anyone have any ideas?

what year? 2000
motor? 1.8T
trans? 5spd
which snub? 034 w/ bracket
where'd you get it? 034
are you happy with it? mostly
does it vibrate? it vibrates some at idle, butwhen it warms up outside I'm going to trymoving it differentheights (adjustable bracket) to see if that helps or makes thevibrations worse.
did u feel a difference over stock? I guess better shifting, but I didn't do the other mounts yet - which i plan to do when I need a new clutch. Mostly, the vibration is the big difference.
do you miss the feeling of the stock snub? Stock is better for thatluxury feeling.... but go with all polyurethane mounts if you are going to be building the snot out of your motor, going BTand getting a Stg 2 or better clutch.
how long have you had the snub on the car?Less than 3,000 miles.
if you could do it over again is there another one you would have gone with? Well, since I searched up and down, and couldn't find one that didn't cause any vibrations, I guess no... I probably would have gotten an APR snub just to combine shipping costs with my timing belt kit from ECS, but they were out of stock anyway. If you can find one (besides stock) that doesn't make the car vibrate at idle, PM me to let me know. Good luck.

I am starting to get sick over this....

I will never go bigger than K04 (i think)

I like the way my car drives now, I am actually pretty satisfied with the car all the way around, even with bad motor mounts, it's not hat bad, I figured I would replace my snub with some magic snub that was perfect, but I guess there isn't a snub out there for me...the last thing I want is more vibration, I think I may replace my snub witha brand new stock snub...lol

anyone know of a good OE like snub? or does any one have a snub that won't break/vibrate?

why can't some genius come up with a magic snub already?

My stock one was still fine after 150K miles. If you can't live with a little vibrations, than just replace it wiht another stock mount only if you need to or happen to already be in there fixing something else...

update on my 034 snub. i haven't really driven the car much since its been in pieces, but i took it on a couple errands today. the vibration only occurs when i start the car, while im driving there is ZERO vibration and at idle after driving the vibration is very minimal. my subs turned all the way down still vibrate more than the snub.

so after further review im much happier with the snub, but its still not perfect.

hey Eric, does your 034 snub fit the entire bracket? like depth wise? cause yours looks different than mine does[>:]

I think they were a little different for my year than yours. Here's a pic with it uninstalled next to the old snub. Not sure if it's in "all the way", but certainly enough to get the (metal intake tube/radiator support) back to it's normal position.

I microwaved it for maybe 20 seconds and used some leftover silicone spray that came with the coilovers to spray on the coilover shock threads.Pushing really hard, I gotthemount (red part) to goonto the "finger". Tight as hell... and to get the red part of the mount to go into the 034 bracket, I had to get it started all the way around using a small flat head screwdriver. I had to sit on the garage floor, facing the front of the engine, while holding each of the bumper supports with my arms stretched out, and my feet on the (metal intake tube/radiator support), kicking at it to get it to go in all the way. So Ithink it's in all the way?

The vibration is more tolerable and I've probably just gotten more used to it, but I really notice the cupholder vibrate at idle.

i'll take a pic of mine tomorrow. but i bought just the snub, not the bracket (thinkin the bracket was just extra support and not needed) and then had to order the bracket later, but on mine the snub sunk into the bracket bout an inch or so and its not fully on the spindle, but the bumper is completely tightened down. i had to stick the snub in the bracket first then squeeze that between the spindle and the engine. i didn't remove my radiator.

^weird...I know that you need to buy the mounting bracket for the snub if you go with 034's

I know that 034 has different snubs for different motors...make sure you bought the AEB snub if you have an aeb motor

you would think that there would be a snub out there that was like a rule of thumb kind of thing

like this

whats the best snub out there?

and then all at the same time everyone says "the brand's name"

and that would be the perfect world [&o]
